Reviews on Leupold RX-II rangefinder???

I'm looking at picking up the RX-II, as it looks like it has some nice features. Does anyone have any experience with this unit and possibly give some pro's and con's about it?

Thanks!

First of all they are pretty pricey compared to most and they are made in China which is a no deal for me. I would look at Nikons and or the redesigned Bushnells or if you want the 2 top ones Leica or Swaro.

I just bought one, I'm happy with it so far, bought the package with the Yosemite binos and the knife. to get the binos and the knife for free it was worth it. Doesn't hold the lifetime warranty but that's understandable being electronic. Haven't hunted with it yet but it does the job well enough from my playing around with it around the house for familiarization. Not everyone has the money to spend on the Swarovski and Leica. Compared to my buddies Bushnell, it's a hands down winner.

I bought the RX-II when they came out mine did good for about the first few months. I picked it up before 07 season rolled in an it would not hit the target but about5 out of 10 tries. I traded it back in an got the Nikon 800 an it works flawless. I might have just had a bad one but the reviews at Cabelas matched the same problems Ihad with it.

I would buy any rangefinder(or anything for that matter)not made in CHINA not matter the country of origin. What happened to the " Made Right Made Here" slogan Leupold is famous for?

What does that have to do with the price of the Leica or Swarosvki? While I agree I would rather buy an American made product, in today's economy price point versus quality makes this point moot.

I think your taking what I said out of context. Leica and Swaro are the best rangefinders and that's what I said in my first post. I didn't say you had to buy those 2 brands to get a good rangefinder. Leupolds are not exactly cheap and right below them(Leica and Swaro) pricewiseeven though they are made in that rat hole called China.

I am certainly know expert but I have an RX-II and I really like it, as compared to the the most simple Bushnell that I had previously... and since it is a Leupold, made in China or not - it has great warranty.

FYI Rangefinders have limited warranty on the electronics;
Leupolds RXI & II - 1 year
Nikon- 1 year
Leupold RX III & IV's - 2 year
Bushnell elite 1500 - 2 year
Swarovski -2 year
Lieca CRF- 2 year
Lieca LRF - 3 year

Having used all of theseI can say I am a big fan of Lieca's. Simple, accurate, dependable, durable, excellent optics, red LED that self adjusts the brightness based on lighting condition, good battery management and ergonomics. For me its money well spent. I have the LRF model and just love it. You can find some deals on LRF models still available.

I never cared for the Leupolds -features Idon't need make it more complicated then it has to be& average performance compared to the selling price.
