Bushnell 4200 4-16x50

Anyone use one of these and if so how would you rate it's lowlight performance?

I had a 2.5x10x50 4200 BushnellElite optically speaking it was in the class of the VXIII's, etc. ER though never caused me any problems (approx 3") didn't afford a ton extra either. Itspent the majority of itstime with me on a 50 cal ML, started out as a scope for my 300wm but the rifle was a boob so it didn't last long. All said I never got touched by the scope sothe ER wasn't a realknock on the scope for me but maybe for some.Being a 50x it was atad heavy, long and styling well not the best IMO. However it functioned great and never walked POI in the years I used/owned it. I never sold it b/c of any faults it was with a rifle sale for which the buyer wanted the elite 4200.I got money back from an optic that basically wasn't needed, soI let her go.

A number of years ago I would have said the 4200 b/c of its ave. asking price??? Though since thenI have seen some great deals on them and it a tough scope to beat for the money. As long it fits the bill for you.

Skeeter, I think they now have a little more then 3 1/2" of eye relief and it is going on a 25-06 ..my only misgiving is the weight since it is a tad heavy but I have heard they are good in lowlight conditions.

Yeah mine was prior to the constant ER they spec now @ 3.6".Had variable ER andat highest X was right around 3" ER( I believe spec'd at 3.6 to 3.1 ER - though don't quote me on that???). The glass, function, etc is the same though and I had no quams with its low light ability or any other function aspect of the 4200. Good scope

I have the Elite 4200 4-16X40 and at leagal hunting times 1/2hr before sunrise and 1/2hr after sunset it is more than bright enough to make out a deer just peeking put out of a tree line. THis scope seems to take a pounding as mine had lived on a 300RUM and not one hichup. I don't know if the cost for the 50mm is worth the differance between the two 50mm and 40mm.
