Nikon Monarchs
 

Does anyone have the new nikon monarchs. I have been shopping for scopes and they seem to be a great scope. THey have a field of view of 40.3 at 100 yards, 4 inch eye releif, and lifetime guarentee. Plus the BDC is very interesting, got a new 7mm and would like to start going out west and would like to be able to shoot far. This scope is the best buy i have found for the money. I like scopes that have a wide field of view, its great when you jump a big buck that running 100 mph.

I own 2 of them. One is a 4-16 x 42 .... the other is a 5-20 x 44. Both are great scopes. Nice site windows. I likethem a lot. I think if you try one you will like it. For the money, they can't be beat.

I like the Monarch. Good stuff, but I am not convinced by the BDC reticle. I do not shoot very far (less than 300 yards when hunting). I personally think the mil-dot is more usefull.

The new Monarchs are very good but I'm not a fan of the BDC reticle. I'd rather have a TDS style or one such as Sightron has on several new models (the hunter holdover reticle). Opticwise, for the $, the Monarchs are hard to beat.

I have the Monarch Gold and find it has very good optics and having that constant 4” eye relief is a plus...;)

I've got the new 2.5-10x Monarch on my .338 Edge. I haven't had it all that long, and I've only used it at the range, but it seems to be a decent scope. It's bright and clear.

I am in a similiar boat for looking at a scope for a new Tikka 270. I have been looking at a nikon monarch 4-16x50SF but the cheapest I found was around $480. Have you found a better location to get one at a good price?

I too was in the market for a scope and like you haven't had a nikon scope before, I had posted a similar post in the optics forum. Just going to let you know I wound up ordering the Monarch 5-20X44 after much thought and I was comparing it to either a Leupold or Burris. The Leupold was much more expensive and I have a pair of Burris binoc's that are mid grade and they have been sent in for repair twice in 5 years, however they replaced them no questions asked. I have looked at all the reviews that I could find and of course here and nobody seems to have anything consistantly bad about the Nikon Monarch, therefore thats what I ordered. I wound up ordering mine off of Ebay for 430.00 with insurance, they will arrive Saturday and I will let you know how it turns out. Good Luck With It!!!

I liked the old monarchs do not care for the new Monarchs ..I think they could have improved the glass but it is the same as the old one but they sell for more money. The BDC reticle is a joke, looks good on paper but is very confusing when actually using one . I wish they had a TDS or B&C type reticle

I also don't care for the BDC. I have no problems shooting my 7mm rem mag without a ballistic plex. Everybody is different but i have no problem making adjustments with a stanbdard plex based on lots of practice. Which is essential if you are truly going to shoot long range, regardless of your reticle.I sayspend your pennies on bullets instead.:D
