what should I do with this base
 

I have a ruger 96/22. I can't find a scope base for it. I was thinking 10/22 base would work for it. it does not. Looked all over the net including the ruger home page, they all say that the 10/22 base will work on the 96/22. what should I do?
keep looking for it or mod the one I have?






if you can see in the top and bottom photo I can get on screw in but you can't see one hole is off a little and the other 2 are not even lining up.



I do have it on backwards right now I was trying something. same thing both ways. I am out of ideas. any input would be great?

Go to the SWFA website, if nobody one here can help, get their phone number and call them. Having the photo's available to send might be of help. I wonder if the rifle was drilled bad or if the mount was packaged mistakenly.
