It will look like a Savage with a 50 MM scope on it!

Looks isn't what is important. It is how will it perform.

You will have to use the high mounts to get it to clear the barrel.

Once installed, it will look just like a 40 mm scope with a large objective lense in the front.

If that bothers you, then you should think about buying a scope that has the larger tube on it. The larger tube will not let more light through the lense, but it will let more light to the eyepiece. Gives you a wider field of view and a clearer sight picture.

The mounts are more expensive and the scope is more expensive and in the end youwon't get anything better than what you can get with the 50 MM objective.

I used Burris (High) all steel rings. I had room to put on flip open scope covers too.Good luck..And I do love that 50 mm scope.
