scope for 336 marlin

My father-in-law gave me a 336 Marlin. I want to put a scope on it for the wife to deer hunt next year. Any suggestions ?

I have 4 Marlin 336"s and have a Leupold VariX II 3-9 on one, a Leupold VX II 2-7 on one, a Burris 4x on one, and a Zeiss Conquest 3-9 on one. My personal favorite is the 336SS with the Zeiss Conquest 3-9.

I'd seriously consider a fixed 4 power scope. There are several good ones out there. Leuppy for sure, but also check Weaver, Burris, Sightron, etc. Of course there are the top ends like S&B, etc. but they are very pricey.

Another option would be a Trijicon. It offers a "lighted" triangular post (BAC) reticle that doesn't require any batteries.

I have owned a Trijicon AccuPoint 3-9 with the illuminated triangle, and it wasn't my cup of tea. I would recommend looking thru one before taking the plunge. For the same money or less, you can get a Zeiss Conquest.

1. Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40
2. Nikon Monarch 3-9x40

Both would be PERFECT for a Marlin 336 of any caliber!

By the way, I'm a firm beliver in scopes andALWAYS use one on Marlin 336s!
