can you over tighten

your scope rings??? I have a Leupold scope that when I make adj it seems like the cross hairs are jumping... I'll make a 4 click adj and the bullet may move 1/4" then I'll make another adj and the bullet might move 3 or 4 inchs...

I have the rings cranked down pretty good!!!

Signs of a problem. Leupold will warranty it. Yes you can overtighten but usually won't show what you got.

Every long range scope I get, I do a bow tests, which basically is shooting and moving 4-6 MOA up, over, down, and back to make a box to see if it comes back to zero.

The rings may also be out of alignment and causing the scope tube to flex, which can cause the internals to bind.

Well good luck with that trophy[8D]

Did you try some of the suggestions from a few people on here? None of my business, just curious.

I am not huge Leupold fan, simply because of the price, but replacing one with a Bushnell trophy just somehow seems wrong.;)

You do know that Leupold would have probably replaced that scope at no charge to you. They are pricey but they have the best darn service in the industry.

I had a trophy on my 12 ga ultra slugger and it crapped out on me. Got to where it wouldn't hold parallax from shot to shot. I wasn't really distraught over it considering it was a $100 scope. But had I spent an extra 50 or so on a better scope it probably would not have happened.

Yes that is the square drill (http://www.gameandfishnetwork.com/download/T100-SquareDrill.pdf). I do that with any scope I mount.
