Vortex Vultures Vs. Alpen Apex

I'm new to this website but what GREAT info. Been hunting 18 years with a small fortune in gear and experience. Thought I would give my 2 cents. Was going to purchase a set of Alpen apex 10x50s. Friend had them and I was very impressed. Looked at Vortex and price was comparable. Bought them instead after looking at return policy. Did a direct and literal hand to hand comparison in 9:00 am daylight. IMHO, WOW!! The difference in daylight was impressive. 40W bulb to 60W bulb. We looked at both binos through the objective with flashlight. There is a "connetor" ring in the tube of the apex that is 1/16-3/32 wider in RADIUS than in the vultures. It made all the difference. Did not compare in the evening or early am light. However, he ordered a pair that day. For $269, you get a $400-$500 quality pair of binos. GRREAT return policy. If you want white collar quality with a blue collar price, the vultures are IT!! Don't be fooled by the price. Take care and GOD Bless.
