scope for a traditions 209 muzzleloader

This will be my first year hunting and i have a traditions 209 muzzleloader and i'll be hunting deer but i need a scope. Any suggestions? i'd rather not spend hundreds of dollars on a top of the line scope. I'll do that when/if i get into hunting seriouslly. I just need one to get the job done right and to hit my shots (a mildot scope would be nice at dusk i guess).

I don't see the need of a mildot on a muzzleloader. At dusk you will need good glass and a heavier reticle. I'm thinking about getting a muzzleloader and I'll probably get an Omega (great eye relief) or an Elite 4200. Both are roughly $250, maybe less if you shop around. Buying a cheap scope is a waste of money IMHO.

Thanks for the import. I've seen that name thrown around A LOT while looking up scopes and reviews and what not here on the forums. seems to be a favorite but i dont know if i want to spend 250 on a scope when i dont know if im gonna use a shotgun or my muzzleloader more. I would definitly use my sights for my first deer or maybe two and see how i like it but they got filed off by the owner before me. It already has the rail to mount the scope on it so i figure i'll just buy a scope. So if mildot scopes are useless for muzzleloaders ill look into some normal scopes then. Thanks

I would also suggest looking into the Nikon Omega 3-9x40. Try not to go to cheap with a scope or you'll regret scimping on optics when you truly need 'em. It's a quality glass!
