widefield scopes

I have an old widefield view scope in 3x9 mounted on a 30-06 rifle and it is almost impossible not to hit the scope with my hand when moving the bolt handle up and back. Is this a common problem or is it just that I have large hands or?

I had an old 4x wide field Redfield scope mounted on my Rem. 700 that I used for years and never had any problems with mine...

It sounds like you need higher rings.

Most likely it is your technique that needs practise.

The scope is on an old sporterizied 1903 and the bolt handle is a bear to push up when it cocks the firing pin

I think you need to practice better form, because i have big hands and do fine without any problem.
