Scope to replace Simmons white tail
I'm new to scopes so I need a little direction. I have a Simmons white tail and would like to replace it with a better scope. However, I just got my new rifle so my budget is streached I can only realisticly afford to spend around $200. I'd like to get the most scope for the money.
Should I be looking for a 3x9x40? I looked at the VXI's and they say paralax is set at 150 and that soundsall good but I don't know what tha hell paralax is so...... Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
RE: Scope to replace Simmons white tail
Parallax, or more accurately motion parallax (Greek: παραλλαγή (parallagé) = alteration) is the change of angular position of two stationary points relative to each other as seen by an observer, caused by the motion of an observer. Simply put, it is the apparent shift of an object against a background caused by a change in observer position.
You should be able to find a number of decent scopes for under 2 bills, such as the Nikon Prostaff, Burris Fullfield II and I believe you can even find a Bushnell 3200 Elite in certain places as well. |
RE: Scope to replace Simmons white tail
If you can stretch a little bit more the Nikon Monarch 3x9x40 has been available for about $218 in places and it is angood qualityscope. You might be able to get $25 or so for the Simmons to help out.

Another vote towards the Nikon Monarch...very nice scope and you can see everything through that scope...even in the darkest of situations.
