Compare Scopes
I would like you guys to help me make a choice on a scope. This scope will be going on my H&R Ultra Slug Shotgun (20ga.), I will be getting it in 3-9x40, yes some may say too much, but I love the 3-9x40s.
I love the Leupold VX-II I own a few and they normally cost $299, I was looking into the Nikon Monarch UCC and found them for $218, my question is this: How would you compare the Monarch UCC to the Leupold VX-II? Quality, warranty, reliability, etc.? I own just one Nikon, and that is the Buckmaster, I could always take it off my old Knight Smokepole and place it on the H&R Thank you in advance for your help |
RE: Compare Scopes
The Nikon and the Bushnell 4200, at lower prices are probably better quality scopes than the Lupy II.

RE: Compare Scopes
If you look around here, the Monarch is usually mentioned in the same breath as the VXIII, rather than the VXII. And given the price difference...
Inany case, your eyes have to make the call. If you can look through 'em side-by-side at a real, live, outdoor target (rather than just across the store...), that will tell you all you need to know. I don't think you'd have to worry about quality or reliability with either one: both have strong followings, & that's something you can't buy overnight. Nikon & Leupold have been walking their talk for some time. Check 'em out in person, & let us know which you choose! Good luck, FC |
RE: Compare Scopes
I went with the time proven Leupold VX-II 3-9x40, I own a few and I just keep coming back, I got it for $258 brand new

RE: Compare Scopes
I did some comparisons between the Nikon monarch and the leupold scopes and found the nikons to be brighter and much cheaper than the leupold. I would go with the Nikons...but thats just my two cents worth.
