Golpher Scope

So i got couple .22's with some cheap bushnell scopes on them and the scopes are no good any more and i was just wondering what would be a good scope for the golphers.

RE: Golpher Scope

As a 6 year old on my grandpa's lap, I used his Winchester .22 with a Redfield 4x scope to terrorize cans & bottles at the farm's trash dump. I then turned this lethal setup on the area's burgeoning13-striped gopher population, with devastating results.

These days, I have a Nikon Prostaff Rimfire 4x32 scope atop a Savage Mark II BV. It's incredibly accurate out to 50 yards, which is as far as I ever shoot at gophers. It also does well at 100 yards, though I have to do about 8 to 10" of holdoveron account of the.22 starts running out of breath.

The Nikon has great brightness & clarity, and has acquitted itself well. I like it even better than the Redfield, and that's saying a lot, considering theamount of nostalgiaI have for that old scope!

I gave right at $100 for the Prostaff, and consider it money quite well spent.

RE: Golpher Scope

Recently picked up a Savage 17hmr that came with a Tasco varmit reticle2.5x10x42 AO scope. So far I am pleased with it, being recoil isn't a factor with the rimfire should serve the purpose. I have seen them retail for around $70 bucks. It maybe be a bit much for your 22, I required high rings. My 22's have 4x's but aren't really used for popping gophers either, more for plinking and small game at relatively close range.
