I have never owned a "good" pair of binos until last year and have always used my scope to look at deer. Last year, I bought a set of Zeiss 12x45 binos and won't hunt without them. My brother has the same binos in 8x, and my Dad has them in 10x. Having all three powers to evaluate, I prefer the 12x.

I hunt wide open country and I have Nikon Monarch 10X42's. Kind of wish I had a good pair of 12Xs.

I use a pair of Swarovski 10x42's and a older pair of Zeiss 10x40's...both are great . I find the 10 power to be a happy medium, you lose some FOV to the 8X and they stabilize better than 12,15x etc.

8X is the most useful and versatile power. Better field of view. Better eye relief and easier to keep steady. this makes for more comfrtable viewing. With most hunters, more is better so mny choose too much magnification. Good luck
