The Nikon Monarchs are good for the money. Very good optics. I have a pair of 8x40s the only thing is they are heavy. I just got a pair of Zeiss conquest 10x30s and they are awsome. They only weigh about 16 oz too, which is about 10-12 oz lighter than the Nikons.

As most who are experienced hunters on this forum know, you just can't go wrong with Zeiss, Leica, Nikon (premier) and Swarovski. But I have found some lesser know binos that are exceptional bargains
Sightron S3
Cabela's Alaskan Guide roof prism
Meopta Meostar
IOR 7x35
My Sightrons are about he best glass I have under 400 bucks (I got them from an ebay dealer for 215 on a blow out).
You action series are some of the best cheap binos out there

I will and HAVE put my Pentax DCF SP 12.5X50's up against the most expensive on the market and there is little to no difference between them.
I can't find a better bino for the money on the market!!!! I find as many deer and elk as my buddies do who own the most expensive there is, the only difference is that I have about 800 more dollars in my pocket when it's all said anddone.

Good luck

I just got the Nikon ATB 8x42. I am pretty happy so far. It has good eye relief so I can use it with or without my glasses.
