If I go with the Meopta I can test it easily !!
I am going to Alabama sometime in the next 2 weeks for my last hunt of the year and if I hunt at my buddies place.......he's an optic's nut !! I can test the Meopta against Diavari's, Swarovski's, Conquests, Luepold's........he's got all of them !!

I am floundering here guys......[&o]
If your choice was between a Meopta 3x12x56 30mm $699 or a Swarovski 3x12x50 (probably) a 30mm $1000...........which would you choose ??
This is where I am at !
Not much info on the Meopta's but what I found is all good........I think the PV is the high end Swarovski !
Asuuming both have good glass and what not..........should the 56mm be better in low light than the 50 mm........wou;d there really be any noticable difference !! Should the Swarovski be better/ brighter even though it has less diameter ??

I have 2 Swarovski scopes with 1” tube. One has a 42 mm obj. lens and the other has a 50 mm obj. lens. I tested them both this fall set at 6x for low light conditions and to be honest really couldn’t tell much difference between the two. They both worked well beyond legal light conditions. I’m not sure how the 56 mm would work but I really see no need to go larger then 42 mm with top end scopes when hunting big game. Just my opinion...

Theoretically the larger diameter objective scope should be brighter. How much? Well there is a theoretical number based on the increase in light gatheringsurface area and then there is the actual number based on the quality of the glass, number and quality of coatings, etc...
Again, I am at a loss with hard factual data to support one or the other. However, I did see some light transmission tests for the Meopta bins in comparison with the upper end Swaro, Zeiss and Leica. The Zeiss FLs had the highest light transmission numbers (93%) with the Leica Ultravids in second at 87%. The Swaro ELs and Meostars were next at 86% and then the Leica Trinovids were around 82%.
I do not know if that helps any but I thought I would mention it.

I think I will put a 3x12x56 30mm scope on my new rifle.........which one of these scopes does best for the price ? Low light performance is most important to me.......but adjustments(and what not) are important also !!
I am leaning toward going ahead and plopping down the big bucks for a Z-Diavari 3x12x56-30..........but I have a smaller Diavari and while I think it's awesome.......can't really justify the price compared to my Dad's Monarch (although I have really only played with them a little........have not actually taken them on a hunt to compare side by side) !!
I have heard the Meopta's are just as good as high end Zeiss and Swaravski ! Know the Monarch's are good scopes for the money(looking at the Monarch Gold). Haven't tried a Ziess Conquest out in the field ! Not a Luepold fan for the money so save the typing !!
BTW........leaning hard toward a Browning A-bolt II .280 sythetic blued if it matters !!! Would like to hear from anyone who has tried two or more of these in the field or owns more than one of these.......for comparison !! Thanks for any help !!
