is the walmart 20x50 spotting scope worth it? it is either that or a 16x20 bino. they are 5$ difference so i need your help?

What kind of scope is it? Most of us here IMHO, would sugggest to shop somewhere else for optics. I have bought several optics at walmart in the past and ended up buying somewhere else later on. I understand buying what you can afford. Been there and done that. Good luck. Jamie

I will say that I don't think you would be happy with a 16 power bino at all. You really do not need that kind of power. Get something in a 8x or 10x and you should be in real good shape. And forget about the spotting scope.

Wal-Mart has it's place. Optics aren't one of them.

I think you would agree that it depends on who made the optics in question and the quality. If Wal-Mart sold Zeiss Diavari scopes at a lower price it woud be a no brainer to buy from them if you wanted a Zeiss Diavari scope.

But that's the deal, TC. Wal-Mart doesn't carry any high-end optics, and few if any mid-range optics. They just don't carry quality optics.

I beg to differ that one. I am in De and Wal*mart has a pair of Bushnell 10x40 binos and they are just as good as mu buddies nikon monark's. So if you ask me it is all in personal preferance. I got the for i believe 30-40$ and they havn't given me any grief. So good luck. And remember PERSONAL PREFERANCE.

I looked into every Bushnell binocWal*Mart had. I wouldn't buy any of the models shown there.

A spotting scope has it'splace. On the range you use it to see bullet holes at long distances.
When hunting you use the binos to find the game, then you use the spotter to ascertain the trophy quality of the animal. But this is usually used in the west's wide open spaces.
If it is a choice between binos and a spotter, your first purchase should be binoculars.
If you are going cheap, check out the Nion Action series and the burris landmark. Also the Bushnell natureview.
