Practice Information
I have a 28 target range close to my home that I work on in exchange for getting to shoot for free. I try to set the range up as close as possible to the up comming IBO shoots. I usually set it close for Bedford, further for Erie and further for Nelsonville. If it is possible I would like to know what the average for the MBR class was at each leg of the triple crown last year. I could then set the range up to that average. The range is set up on a 34yd average from the MBR stake now. Their is and average of 8yds differance between each shot. It reminds me of Nelsonville right now but I want to set it up to practice for Bedford. Can someone from the IBO help me out with this. Thank you. If anyone would like to shoot this range, it is in West Virgina. You can call Sod Archery, Lindell Marker is the owner he will be glad to give you directions. The range is about 15 miles south of Charleston, you get off the Hamblin exit of 119 south. The number is (304)756-3896.

RE: Practice Information
Hello Bentshaft
I would like to give you some tips on practicing for bedford. Your average shot will be between 15-45 yards. Also you might not want to shoot 6 hours a day because you could pick up some bad habits in your form. Now the #1 Tip I could give you is to shoot a MATHEWS and to watch out for me. Ha Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Good Luck And See Ya at Bedford. For more great tips come see me at the winners stage. Catch me if you can!! |
RE: Practice Information
Legend, thankyou for that completely useless bit of information. I have cut my practice down to 5hrs and 58min a day. Your right, 6hrs is when you start to pick up the bad habbits. I dont no when you are going to get smart and get serious, I guess after you buy at least one of every bow that mathews makes you will figure it out. Dont worry before to long we will be shooting together and I will be taking you to 3d school. Hey do you and fatboy still have that bet that you will pay him $50.00 if he shoots even at bedford? I hope I do see you on the winners stage, because I will be one place higher than you. Later Leggend 88, good luck. P.S Dale Earnhardt is the best their is ever going to be,and Iam not talking about JR. Racing sucks now.

RE: Practice Information
Set your range for variety. Minimum of 5 yds difference on each target. More whenever possible.
Place targets at yardage outside what is expected. Short or long. The perception that we use averages when setting a range is not really accurate. We set what we find using the target list, terrain and conditions. We are looking for something that you see that is not there.;) Cause some eights maybe even a five, but give em back their arrows. That's the plan. ken12 |

RE: Practice Information
The state where I live and do most of my shooting is in the south east. It is called West Virgina it is not very flat. The IBO World Championship is held here. You shoot up hill or down hill on almost every shot we also have shots were we shoot across canyons or ravines I call them (hollers). But some people dont no what Iam talking about when I say hollers. Its a place were water running off the mountain has cut a big V in the earth over a long period of time. Their are 3 national shoots the 1st is in Indiana the terain their is kinda rolling hills and fields. Most of it is flat. The 2nd one is in Pennsilvania its pretty much the same as the first except the woods are thicker and its swampy. Their is a lot of dark tunnel like shots. The 3rd national shoot is in Ohio and its my favorite. The terrian their is like West Virgina and the shots are usually long and hard to judge the yardage to. The only archery sights I go to are this one and www.archerytalk.com . I hope this answers your question and helps you out.
