Indoor Worlds

I shot in the dark early Friday. It's not fair that you light the range up as the day goes on. I was shooting at silhouettes and anyone that shot after me had a better look at the targets. I couldn't pick rings out on targets because of the lighting. I'm sure that wasn't a problem later in the day. I think since this is the indoor worlds that all the elements should be the same for all of the shooters because you can control them.

Was'nt there, but does the term" inadequate organization" ring a bell?

Justin, are you saying that they added lights for shooters later in the day? If that is the case then all the results would be suspect. Shooting conditions as bad as they were at least the same for everyone. If some shooters shot in poor light and then more lights were added later in the day then I personally don't think any scores should count and all shooters should be refunded their entry fees!! Ken, please tell me they didn't add lights later in the day????

There must be a reasonable explanation for the conditions everyone is posting on the different forums. I would expect the planning has to be done by the hosting club, so an explanation should come from Parma. However I would expect the IBO officials have to pre-inspect the courses and test fire some arrows in order to make sure conditions are right and the courses are safe. This is the case with any club in order to provide a quality shoot.

RE: Indoor Worlds

I shot at 4:42 on Sat. The only lights we had were the ones that were in the roof. I cant say if they were added between Friday and Saturday but I got their about noon and their were no lights added from noon on. I started getting disapointed when I got their because it was a little dark and their were no practice butts. But I knew if I got a poor attitude it would affect my shooting, so I decided to do the best I could with the conditions I had. As far as I no everyone had to shoot the same conditions. Once I staretd shooting I had a great time. I shot the MBR and I couldnt pick out the lines on a lot of the targets either. So I just put the pin behind the front shoulder and shot. Just like bowhunting. We shot a lot of black targets I think we had about 6 turkeys, at least 4 of them were between 35 and 44 yds. I dont think I could pick out rings on a 44yd turkey on a sunny day at noon in my backyard. If you let the precived conditions affect your mental game your not going to shoot as good as you thought you should have, you are telling yourself your going to shoot bad before you get started. The score that was leading MBR as of Friday night was 411. That guy did seem to have a problem, and that is a higher score than what won it last year. I had a great time those people did a lot of hard work to put this shoot together and I think they made the best out of what they had to work with. I will be back next year.

there were no lights added, what the conditions were for the first group they were the same for the last group. the location for the shoot is up to the management of the IX center to have a prime spot none of us could afford the entry fee.

sorry ej..but i dont buy it.......if all of the shooters and family,friends,etc...that came along to the show never came, im willing to bet there would be somebody losing a good chunk of money........and if i were parma and/or the ibo...i would be reminding someone of that fact.................

RE: Indoor Worlds

ej is correct. No lighting was added after the first shooter shot his first arrow.
It was dim but I hope you all had a pretty good time. Some good scores were shot.
We have been informed that the shoot will be back on the show floor where it was last year.
I will say that Parma did all they could before the event got started to add lighting. Some of you probably saw the temporary lights on the ceiling.
Our event is out of the ordinary for the show staff, the IX staff as well as the union guys that do the work for things like this. Many times they will perhaps choose to not understand why we think a problem exists. But, most of the time they will do all they can to help.
This time they did not get all done that we needed. Once again when the first shooter lets her fly, no more can be done to improve the conditions.
Just a point for your information, ej is now the IBO President.

I shot on Sunday and if they added any lights, I couldn't tell. It was a disappointment to me and everyone else it sounds like. I'm sure the guys with lights on there scopes benefited. That will be on my list of things I need to add to my equipment. Bottom line, there should have been more lighting. Why would anyone want to pay 45 dollars to shoot at something they cannot see. I hope they will consider all comments and build on them for future shoots.
