FTRD class
 

I personally don't mind the changes to the yardage we will be shooting next year but I do feel that it will discourage a lot of woman from competing in this class. We have a small enough class as it is and it is hard to get woman interested in traditional archery. Most local clubs set their courses up with closer yardages and it will make it difficult for most woman to compete at an IBO Shoot. Why should they have to shoot the same distances as someone with a compound bow with sights. A lot of woman shooting traditional are only pulling 35-40 pounds. As far as practicing for hunting, most game is taken from 20 yards or less with a traditional bow. I think IBO needs to get back to the reason they exist in the first place. BOW HUNTING!!

The way that ranges are being set now, average distance this year for the yellow stake would probably be at 24-27 yards. The 27 was at the worlds.
A need exists to shorten the Cub stake from that average. White stake max is now 25 yards.
That means the average will be below 20.
I do not think you will have the difficulty that you have heard of for distances in the past.Up until a couple years ago the class was shot from the green stake at 45 max.

Female traditional, I would have to agree with you. Your class is small enough like it is and 35 yard max is a long shot for any person. I have been shooting IBO since 1994. We have never shot past 30 yards. Even though you only add 5 yards to the max, it will change the scores dramatically. I shoot in the RU class and I am afraid this will cut our numbers in half. I also agree that 20 yards is the break off point for most traditional people to take game. Just my 2 cents worth.
