Future Bow Hunters @ SnowShoe

Never been there as we are new to the IBO...

1.) What events can a FBH shoot in @ SnowShoe?

2.) Do they get to shoot a full course or is it 10 targets only?

3.) Also how many days do they get to shoot? Do they have a "finals" also?

4.) Is there any type of schedule of events that can be found?

5.) Do you need to pre-register or can it be done there, if pre-register... what is the cut-off date?

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff,
FBH shoots on shoot 10 targets on Saturday at 2:00 on Skidder Slope. When you get to Snowshoe go to the registration building and register your FBH shooter.
There is also a Youth Jamboree for the kids on Skidder Slope on Wednesday at 3:00
The schedule of events is on our web site www.ibo.net under "IBO and
You"
There lots of other things for the kids at Snowshoe like Eurobungy, Split Rock Pools, scenic lift rides, bonfire with smores and Saturday night the best fireworks around!
Families have a ball at Snowshoe!
:)

Thanks for the quick response Judy!

So other than the Jamboree on Wed., they only get to shoot the 10 target course... Is there any way an FBH can shoot along side their parent (me)? I'm gonna go ahead and assume the answer is no...

My butt would get a good chewing if I tell him he can only shoot the 10...DOH!

Jeff, the Future bowhunters shoot a 10 target course that is set up on the skidder slope. When you get to snowshoe you will find it easily,or just ask someone. When you get their go to shavers center, after you check in. The people at the desk will give you a map, a schedule of the events and tell you where shavers center is. The future bowhunters register at shavers center it cost 10.00 per kid. This shoot is non competative and every kid gets a gold medal and some prizes. This shoot is scheduled for saturday at 2 or 3 pm. Their is also another shoot for kids that happens on wednesday afternoon. This shoot dosent cost anything and they give out some nice prizes and have fun. Their is a schedule of events for snowshoe on the IBO home page. Last year their wasent any 10yd practice butts for the kids I have talked to Ken Watkins about this and he will try to get some put up, and keep the adults off them. If practice butts for your kids to shoot is important to you. You may want to call the IBO office and talk to Ken Watkins about it. Iam sure he has got a lot of things going on and it might slip his mind. You can take your kids out on a defense course and let them shoot from wherever they want to. But I will warn you some of the walking gets kind of rough and you may end up having to pack them on your back. But the good thing is that its all down hill.

Thanks bentshaft...

i'm not worried about having to pack him... heck, we shot the R-100 this weekend and he didn't want to stop at 50 so we shot all 100 targets in one day... He was packing me out ;)

Thanks again for the info... The schedule is a big help!

Hi Jeff One other option you have are the Bowhunter Defense Ranges. There will be two 10 target ranges that go off Skidder Slope and two 10 target ranges at Silver Creek. The FBH's shoot these for free. They are set up like the regular courses so he can see the same type course Dad shoots. The cost for everyone else is three rounds for $10 or $5 for one 10 target round. The 3 round pass is good at either range. Have fun! These were the prices last year are I guess they will be the same this year. Plus all the monies go toward bowhunter defense. Everyone wins.

I have taken my kids the last two years to Snowshoe and they had a blast between the defense ranges, practice butts and jamboree, then toss in mini-golf, paddle boats, pools, fireworks, euro-bungey, free movies etc.
