Indoor Worlds/ Questions
 

Can anyone who has shot this tournment tell me what their experience was like? Any suggestions? Was it difficult to get your shot off in the time allowed? I spoke to a guy who didn't get a shot off and lost that arrow for score. How long does it take to shoot all 40? I know to dress warm. Is the lighting good? Do you need to light your fiber optic pin to see it? Thanks for any comments.

My experience was good. I feel you have plenty of time to get your shot off, but you don't have time to waste looking at your next target while retrieving your arrows. It takes approx 3 hrs to shoot all 40. No bathroom breaks, water, etc just shooting. Staying on your toes is the key. Yes you want to dress warm. The lighting has been adequate in the past, one thing to remember everyone deals with the same lighting. You don't neccessarily have to light your fiber. It's a fun shoot! Keep close watch on the numbers of the targets as some are white number with black background and some are black number on a white background, these help differentiate between classes, but can get you if your not paying close attention. Parma archers will give you a prep talk before going to the line. You will be fine.

I don't think anyone should have any trouble with the shooting time. That being said, the shot timer does not allow a lot of time to back up and start over like some of us tend to do. Lighting?? I personally don't have a problem with the lighting, although many would disagree with that and choose to light their pins. Be on the safe side and give yourself that option if you're in doubt. Many people tend to feel hurried at this event because you need to find your next shooting station once you have pulled your arrows. This feeling is self imposed, they will give you the time you need to find where you are supposed to be. It usually takes 3+ hours to shoot the 40 targets, and you do so without a break. Best advise I can give is to hit the restroom before you start. The last 10 targets with a full bladder will test anyones consentration. The sport show makes a good addition to the shoot, and Parma Archery does a great job of co-ordinating the event.

They set the timer at 1-1/2 minutes. It will be less if everyone on the line finishes before that time limit. If you're one of the shooters that feel that the 2 minute IBO rule is for the other guy...you might have a problem.

I had a bad experience. But I will give it anther go. I made it to the tables an hour before my shoot times... only to find out the rest of the group I was scheduled to shoot with shot eairler... becasue there was space on the line for them to fit in. Well I got teamed up with one MBO I am an MBR and two hunter class shooters. We had to score 4 targets every round at two levels on the targets shoot floor. We were the last shooters back thru the line each time and the line was called to shoot as we cleared it. We had no time to accurately judge yardage and we were definately rushed. The line forman asked us why we were so slow when we got to be in front of him... he was dumb founded that they grouped us like this and did give us a slight bit more time to shoot our last ten targets. So if it looks like it is running fast like last year and they are letting people shoot at times other than the schedualed time... beware of your group dynamics. Alot of people were coming and working in with intacked groups of friends.
