IBO CHANGES???????

Blue Jacket,

Prior to reading this thread that you have just posted I have made a decision. This is not an issue that you or I are able to solve and to keep bantering back and forth is making no sense to me any longer. You are a State Rep but not from the State where I reside and therefore all of our point , counterpoint discussion is a waste of time for both of us. I have no further interest in carrying on this thread unless and until I can see that it may have a point. Your enthusiastic response is expected as a State Rep and member of the IBO. Our methods may differ and the reason for change on certain issues is going in different directions. I respect your opinions and though we may differ it is neither our job to determine problems or solve them. The Forum has gone down hill far enough as far as participation and maybe the subject matter is the problem. I will set and look and listen for the solutions that will be final for all members on any problems there may be either real or perceived by the people that can make changes. Let me leave you with this thougt and it is not orignal in any way, " Those of us who do not learn from history are bound to repeat it" , or something like that. Good Luck. As I am composing this even OHIO STATE has been detroned, sorry to see that.

RE: IBO CHANGES???????

Fastfletch,

I asure you that the questions I ask of you are real as are the intentions for the answers. Real feed back is crucial to any problem being solve properly. I do disagree with you on one point. I believe it is our duty to help develope solutions that will work. As you have seen in earlier posts, there are only 4 full time employees for the organization. Directors and State Reps volenteer their time and are also a limited resourse. To properly improve situations for everyone we need the eyes, ears, and intelligence of our members. Problems are pretty easy to spot. There are personal concerns, as well those affecting locally, regionally, Nationally, and Globally. Global and personal concerns, while very important, are very difficult to resolve in such a manner that the solutions do not create other problems. Our best chance for success is to listen closely to local concerns, and use that information to guide us in solve regional and national dilemmas. Solving all of this often will require creative solutions. Getting constructive feedback for our membership is vital for that. Also part of problem solving requires a healthy debate. While my opinions may seem perfectly sound to me, if they don' t stand up to close scrutiny, perhaps I need to rethink them. Also somethimes progress demands choosing the option which does the least harm.

Stay and debate if you wish or not, that choice is yours. I will say this, anytime when I feel that the integrity of our organization, its cause, its leadership, representatives or staff is being challenged, I will be around to defend it. Our Bowhunting heritage is to precious to be lost, as are those who work to preserve it.

Bluejacket,

All of our responses are with good intention and are presented in hopes of being part of a solution not adding to the problems. With that said I will again say good luck and I will keep watch to see what the final solutions are and hope that real progress can be made.

RE: IBO CHANGES???????

I have a suggestion fastfletch. You seem to be fairly intelligent and very interested the IBO and how it can be guided. Have you ever thought about becoming a state IBO representative yourself? Just an idea but you seem to want to take a active hand in making changes to the organization and that would be far easier to do from the inside than from the outside. I don' t know what the pathway is to becoming a state rep but if you choose to go that route I' m sure Judy or someone could explain it to you.

Thanks folks, right now it is time to focus on hunting for white tails while the people who can hunt for answers do their thing. Am looking forward to happier days for all archers and I hope that everone scores an eleven this fall.
