8X binocular limitation. Is that changing?
I heard through the rumor mill that the 8X binocular limitation was going to be eliminated as it is in ASA. I' d like to know if that' s the case since I' m planning on putting out the dough for some serious binoculars and IBO rules are something that are likely to impact my choice. I' m thinking 10x42' s if the 8X rule goes bye-bye.
Ken, care to shed some light on what may or may not change about this rule? |

Robert.
I too would like to see the bino rule change but not too higher powered ones but to eliminate them all together. I know I am going to cop some flack over that statement but thats my opinion. With the amount of shooting we do on the 3d ranges and with placement cards we all know where the rings are so why look every time another plus would be to speed up some of the guys who spend way too long looking making adjustments then looking again make another adjustment look again and so on. Judge the distance pull back aim fire move onto the next target. |

HI Ausie guy: I have heard some people say the same thing as you
all i' d like to know is whats the rush, when i go shooting part of the fun is watching others shoot too. i like meeting new people and enjoying a day in the woods or where ever i rush at work. not when i' m shooting. a lot of things take time on the course chairs, lost arrows old people relax enjoy. have fun,,,,,,,,,phil |

Phillip.
Have you ever been stuck behind 3 or 4 groups that are slow and wont let you shoot through in 100 degree heat like we down here in TX. I know there is the 2 minute rule but some guys take way too long to get the shot off and when you remind them of the 2 minute rule or ask to shoot through they just take more time to shoot and wont let you shoot through. Like I said it is my opinion and you have yours which is every bodies right in this country.;) |
RE: 8X binocular limitation. Is that changing?
yes we all have been behind those who need a crowd to watch while they shoot.
and yes i think its unsportsman like not to let faster shooters pass. my point is a lot of familys with kids, old folks are slower than we might like,do we shove them aside because there slow too. there are a lot of reasons shoots dont move along as fast as we would like........whats the answer stop them bino users......ok phil |
RE: 8X binocular limitation. Is that changing?
There has been no further discussion of changing this rule.

RE: 8X binocular limitation. Is that changing?
The majority of the shooters on any course are not causing the problem, it is the the small few that are only interested in demonstrating their importance and uncaring attitude. I don' t think that it would be fair to penalize the majority for what a small minority are doing. If people will not let you shoot through then their ignorance of the rules or common courtesy needs to be noted at the registration desk when you complete your round for future reference.
