RE: shooter of the year
There has been much discussion on the subject after the announcement of the program. It will be interesting to see what comments you receive now. To date HC is leading the classes in the attendance at the eligable shoots.

RE: shooter of the year
IMO, Hc is a beginners class and with anything else beginners dont get rewards. Think about it, they put a Cap on the money in HC and no shooter of the year. What else will they have to do to get some of these guys to move up.
I think there should be a time limit on shooting HC [1 season], I also think that they should start a 35 yard class for the seniors. I shot HC last year, 1 year now I moved up to mbr, I want new people to have a chance and shoot against others at there skill level, not some semi pro drop backs. JMO... |

I thin that limiting people to how long they can compete in a class would only do one thing and that is you it would drive people out of the game. If you make people move to another class you are not moving them up, you are only imposing your values. Check the average scores for the HC and I think that you will find that overall top to bottom the scores are higher. The hunter class is the 2nd biggest class every time you go to a shoot which to me says that the overall shooting requirements does not matter but the final score makes people feel that they are doing better. If winning is the only thing that counts for these people does it make sense that making the class bigger every year will make you win quicker. If you take out the top 10 shooters and put them in another class, where and what happens to the people that have been working their way to the top. If the class is a beginers class was last year your first year and how many wins did you have. A class of over 400 archers at the world is not a bunch of people who must win, it is a class of archers who want to participate and do so without looking like beginners. |
RE: shooter of the year
A place to play. Have fun. Shoot my hunting equipment. Shoot hunting distances. Where does a new shooter start.
A few of the comments for the beginning of the HC. A class that was to be less competitive. More fun. More relaxed. But guess what happened on the way to the market. Many that were just off the top in Open, mbr, even some semi-pro shooters changed to the HC. I for one do not believe for any tiny little second that the change had much to do with distance. That dog won' t hunt. It had to do with a shot at winning. Without competing against the guys that had been just a bit better. Folks, we got the database. We got the names. Someone once said, follow the money! Some did! So, purse restrictions and winning limitations. No S.O.Y. title and award. Want the title, you got to move to another class. Four levels of competition for adult men or women. HC' s MBO, MBR, MBA etc. Semi Pro Pro Each with a little more of a level of difficulty. Each a little tougher. Each with a little greater level of award. The intent was not to create a place for somone to decide they can switch to HC and beat up on the new guys, or those that just want to have a good time. The number of shooters in the HC' s is not going to affect the decision to follow these guidelines. The very success of the class points to the logic behind the decision. ken12 |
RE: shooter of the year
last year was my first year, and I won no IBO events.

RE: shooter of the year
ken-Its not about winning for me. Just was wondering why you feel the HC does not deserve equal rewards for doing our best.Without HC where do you really think you would be. Short alot of shooters.

Bowpro, you are forgeting the Trophy Class; that' s where people go to just have fun and be more relaxed. That' s where the beginners go. That' s where shooters go if they can' t qualify. I shoot HC for both fun & competition the same as a lot of others do too. The thing that really ticks me off is that most of the people that I talk to do not agree with all these new changes and you do not give the IBO members a chance to vote on these changes. You and a select few make the decisions for all of us. I would think that the President, Vice President, etc. discuss changes that they would like to see made, and then those changes should be brought to the members for a vote. I will have to see the bylaws. Where do I get a copy? Instead, we find out about these new changes after they are in effect. I don' t understand this organization. Why do we pay IBO membership dues? If the membership could vote on these changes before hand and the changes would be made for the majority instead of a few, then we wouldn' t have all of these arguements.
Then there is this forum. If we don' t agree with you, Bowpro, you and some of your loyal friends come on here and get quite nasty. Can' t we all talk about this nicely? Whether we agree or not? Unfortuntely, I am wasting my time writing this because I know what will happen now. |
