Official News: Winner' s Choice and BowTech
Here' s the official word from Winner' s Choice on their relationship with BowTech. Please feel free to post or email any questions!
[hr] Winner’s Choice Ends Relationship With BowTech John Day, OR – March 4, 2003 - Winner’s Choice Custom Bowstrings, Inc., a leading force in the manufacture of highest-quality custom bowstrings and buss cables, has recently announced that they have decided not to supply strings to BowTech, an Oregon-based bow manufacturer. Citing concerns about representations made regarding their strings, which are known worldwide for their exceptional quality, the owners of Winner’s Choice have elected to inform the buying public about their decision regarding BowTech. " Quality is our stock in trade, and our reputation is built on it," explains Mike Slinkard, Vice President of Winner' s Choice. " Unfortunately, there is a misconception that Winner’s Choice is still supplying BowTech strings – we definitely are not. Winner’s Choice customers have come to expect a very high standard of quality from our strings, and we feel it is important to let the public know that we decided in January to stop supplying BowTech with strings,” Slinkard stated. “Hopefully by telling the public about our decision, we will help to avoid further confusion about the source of BowTech’s current strings.” Tom Nealy, President of Winner’s Choice, explains the company’s motivation behind the change: “Simply stated, we were concerned about quality, and concerned that customers would be led to believe that another company’s string was in fact a Winner’s Choice string. We decided to avoid the possibility of leaving such room for confusion, and end the relationship. Though we hope that we will continue to have a dialogue with BowTech, our first concern is for our customers, and we feel compelled to tell them that the strings they will receive on their new BowTech will not be Winner’s Choice quality strings.” Winner’s Choice is no stranger to offering manufacturers and bow customers high-quality custom strings. With a product that is guaranteed not to creep, stretch or separate, Winner’s Choice has quickly become the darling of string critics industry-wide. Citing the quality of the Winner’s Choice product, Archery Research (AR) has begun offering Winner’s Choice strings optionally on every bow. Forge Bow Company has also elected to offer Winner’s Choice strings as standard equipment on the company’s 2003 bows. Winner’s Choice strings, which are constructed using a completely unique and revolutionary process, have long been praised for their high quality and durability. At this year’s Archery Trade Association show in Indianapolis, the company also introduced X-Coat, its new and proprietary wear reduction coating that has taken the industry by storm. Champion shooters and pro hunters alike, including people such as Dave Cousins, Dee Wilde, Duane Price, George Ryals IV, Cameron Hanes, Will Primos and Dan Evans, have all promoted Winner’s Choice for the company’s commitment to quality and innovation in the field of custom strings. RE: Official News: Winner' s Choice and BowTech
Sorry to hear that BowTech has lost a great string company, it sure will not be the same.
Winners choice is a good product.[:' (] |
RE: Official News: Winner' s Choice and BowTech
I' m sure that this kind of message makes no one happy or sad other than the manufacturer. Having never tried your product I can make no comments regarding its durability or worth.
My only reaction to a thread like this is that it could start a great deal of speculating as to the reason or reasons Bow Tech may have had and if they are in some kind of trouble as a manufacturer. This forum is not the place to start a debate as to the reasons for either company to discontinue doing business with one another but Bow Tech should have a chance to explain their reasons if they feel that it would be for the best interest of the Archery public. Good Luck to both companys. |

I' m sure that the other string company' s would want you to think that their strings are as good or better than any other string company. I' m sure that their strings are a fine product but each company sets their own standards. I don' t think that there is a AMO (ATA) standard as far as quality goes. Not being an authority on the subject it may be interesting if some of the other string manufactures would come on here and make a comparison of similar products.

RE: Official News: Winner' s Choice and BowTech
I think the biggest problem was WC' s desire to have BowTech designate which bows had their strings on them. BowTech designates the strings on all their bows as O2 strings, no matter who makes them.
Highbow, who won' t be the same? To say that BowTech' s bows won' t be the same is rather foolish. Who else supplies WC as standard equipment? This is a bigger loss for WC, IMO. This is a rather pompous statement: " our first concern is for our customers, and we feel compelled to tell them that the strings they will receive on their new BowTech will not be Winner’s Choice quality strings.” Is no one else capable of making " quality" strings? |
RE: Official News: Winner' s Choice and BowTech
From the research I have been doing this morning.
If in fact the other strings are made by Stone Mountain then they are just as good if not better than the WC strings. I can see Stone Mountain smiling all the way to the bank;) |
RE: Official News: Winner' s Choice and BowTech
I was just posting of my personal feeling guys, don' t hang me over it. It is justmy opinion that WC has proven to be a very good product, I tried another brand of replacement and was not at all satisfied with it.
I haven' t shot another BowTech with whatever brand they will use now but I should within a week. If they find a good replacement so be it, I wish them both well. Yes, I think BowTech will still have a good product and I' ll be wearing the clothes to show I approve.[8D] |
RE: Official News: Winner' s Choice and BowTech
HighBow, please don' t take my comments to imply I want to hang you. I had to cut up my rope to retie my canopy on the deck this winter (that' s another story).[:@] My use of the word foolish was, well, .... foolish. Sorry. I agree WC strings are very good. My 03 Pat has whoever' s strings on it, and they are working out fine. Good hunting.

No harm Phil, I got your point, I' m not that easy to hurt. Maybe the WC deal with Forge will work out great for both of them.
