point weight
how do you decide what point weight you should use?

RE: point weight
I try to stay within 8 -15% FOC. 8 TO 12 for target and to 15 for hunting. That a rule of thumb. Arrow flight will detremine what works best for your set-up. JERRY

RE: point weight
Measure to the end of the point, be it a field point or broadhead.Find the physical center of the arrow by measuring as above. Find the balance point of the shaft. Measure the distance between these two points. Divide by the length of arrow and multiply by 100 to express as a percentage. Experts say that 7 to 10% FOC (Forward Of Center) is the proper amount for optimum stability and accuracy.

RE: point weight
Hi Pup,
IMHO. If the arrows are the right length for you and your preference for shooting, and the arrow is striking to the left of where your aiming, the spine may be too stiff, so try the next heavier tip. then the next till the arrows hit where your aiming. If the arrow is striking to the right ofwhere your aiming, then reduce the weight in increments till you get the flight your looking for. Good luck, gg |
