Matthews Bow question and Arrow?
 

What kind of Matthews Bow are all these pros shooting that took the first 3 top spots at Gainesville, FL. Is Matthews a better bow than Hoyt? How about some feed back on the Matthews Hoyt comparison?

I'm shooting a BowTech Pro38 would I be better off shooting a Matthews or Hoyt any suggests on these. I'm shooting 60lb draw, 28 inch arrow.

If go to a 250 CXL with 4 inches feathers and an insert and 100gr point how much will this arrow weigh and would it be to light for my set up? 4 inch feathers because I shot hunter class.

Shoot whatever bow you are comfortable with. Don't let what other people shoot influence you to go out and plunk down big $$$ to buy another bow only to get it home and discover it isn't any better than the one you already have. 99% of the bows on the market still shoot better than the guy or gal behind them, mine included!

If you are comfortable with the Pro38 then keep it.

It is not the bow that wins shoots its the guy holding the bow.
The top pro's can take any bow and still shoot it better than most of us can.

Best thing to do is work on your form and dont worry about what Joe Blow is using or doing.

Make sure that the bow is set up properly with a good sight and the correct arrow for the weight and draw length. If you can shoot good groupes at twenty yards than the best thing you can do is develope the form necessary to compete anywhere. The Mathew bows are one of the best bows there are on the market today. Mathews wins more tournaments each year due partly to the people shooting their equipment. But if you want to expierence the real difference go to a mathews dealer and try one of the bows, the Icon, Legacy or the New LX and then you can judge for yourself and I'm sure that you will see that there is a difference between the Mathews and other bows. If money is the only thing that is important when you purchase a bow, go out and buy the cheapest bow that you can find. Buying quality merchandise is like buying oats, the best grade of oats that have been screened and cleaned cost more money. After the oats have been through the horse you can get them a lot cheaper.

You seem to be getting a lot of responses, but no answers to your question.
I don't know what Mathews bows those individuals shoot, but you might find the answer on Mathews website. I know they have a page that introduces their shooters.

Shoot the bow that wprks for you. The top guns are not shooting carbons. They still are shooting aluminum. I saw Ketcher and Brooks this year and they both shot aluminum. Crowe shoots 2613.

If you shoot 70# out of the faster mathews (just for instance), you can hit reasonable IBO, and ASA speeds with just different points. A lot of more casual shooters shouldn' t shoot those weights, so the fat aluminum strategy may not work as well for them, unless they are fabulous on range estimation.

Before you let the pros influence what you shoot,consider this.Mathews has 114 pro shooters on staff(according to what they had listed on their site).I would think that stacks the odds in their favor.Along with the contingency money they pay it is no wonder they win so many tournaments.

Now back to your question.I do not know what those 3 individuals shoot but Jeff Hopkins has been the man to beat in the ASA for a few years now and last year he was still shooting the original Conquest. I do not know what he is shooting this year.

It is more about the shooters and not what they are shooting.They would do well with many different bows,maybe not all bows but most of them.

As for aluminum,Brooks is shooting 68# and Crowe shoots 80# or atleast they did.


I am shooting 2312 aluminum this year and get 270 out of a 60# 29" Ultratec.

I get so sick of hearing it ! I shoot for Hoyt but if a Mathews shot better for me that is what I would be shooting. Like was said earlier.....shoot what feels good and works for you.

I have been told the mathews pro' s shoot Conquest 2 with mini max cam' s.
I dont know for sure, because i am not good enough to compete with those guys.
But if they use this setup, it will be no suprise for me.
I shoot a Mathews Rival Pro, with mini max cam and i am NOT about to change anything.

For the other part of your question.
Stick with the bow you like most.
Its not the bow thats doing the work.

Well I know that Colin Boothe shoots a Conquest 2 Kiwi color and he was 1st in FL. , but as for the rest I don' t know.
