RE: PRESS CONFERENCE

will the shoot be at hoosier park as well? how are the ranges laid out? how much driving? we usually come as a group, but if we are spread out we may need to make other arrangements. flat woods was a little tuff to get folks where they needed to be and back again....

RE: PRESS CONFERENCE

Keith,
We are finalizing transportation just like at Snowshoe. You will have the option of taking yourself or using the transportation.

RE: PRESS CONFERENCE

so there wont be a problem with parking....and reading into your post, i am assuming the ranges are not going to be located centrally, they will be spread out at different locations?

with everyone asking questions, and getting few answers, would it be possible to give a brief overview of what is going on, where the ranges are going to be, so folks can attempt to make room reservations close to ranges, or arrange additional transprtation or make use of available transportation? how far will we be commuting, is housing available at the host site, or nearby? i understand there is a huge selection of fast food in the area, will that be nearby as well? hoosier park, is that not near muncie? will practice ranges be available at each set of ranges, or will we need to go to a central place to warm up? bowhunter defense ranges near the main venue? available parking at the main venue? shuttle service being wagons, trailors or busses? food available at each set of ranges? terrain? rolling hills, flat, corn/soybean fields?

RE: PRESS CONFERENCE

Wayne,I know everything is being finalized and I hope we will hear soon, so if you can put the locations of campgrounds in this information release that would help too.I hope everything goes well with this new place, that everyone seems to be worried about.I just want to shoot.Sounds like it could be interesting with it being called Archery Festival. Good luck with everything and hope to hear somethingsoon.

RE: PRESS CONFERENCE

also, describe what exactly an archery festival is? will there be rides? displays? petting zoo? face painting? elephant ears? cotton candy? is an archery festival family friendly? will my wife and two sons find things they enjoy doing? they do not participate in archery, an archery festival may not be the thing to take them to if it is only dealing with archery?

archery festival -- its a pc idea for the non hunters of the world -- ibo cant tell a city we are hunters from all over the world -- might pizz off the tree huggers - so it a archery festival-- -- pc krap is what it is --

RE: PRESS CONFERENCE

deadhorse - Thanks for your baseless comments. The word festival is being used to include non-archers into our community. We want to expose people to archery that may not have been exposed to the sport before. If the sport is going to grow, we must be more inclusive. This is a premise for the NASP program.

Since youare "in-tune" with what we are trying to accomplish, we would welcome any of your suggestions to improving this event.

RE: PRESS CONFERENCE

i honestly dont think its a baseless comment -- from my understanding -this shoot has always been called -- the ibo world championships.-- i think the words archery festial was added to soften the idea thats we are hunters-- to give the idea that we as drinking beer -- danceing to the local band -- pitching horse shoes- and flying kites-- when in fact we shoot arrows into foam animals - foam animals that repesent real animals that during hunting season we shoot arrows into and eat the meat--this is a blaint attempt to apease the non hunters of anderson --
btw -no need to take anything i post to seriously -- this isnt nor was it an attact on you - my post are my opions - only-

RE: PRESS CONFERENCE

Mr. Hoffman

It seems to me that with all the work that you have done to get the shoot going in Anderson that you should be able to call this anything that you want, with the approval of the IBO. I'm sure that if the few people that have to know all the answers right now want to they can make their inquiries by Mail and the answers will be furnished as they become available. The negative attitude of some of the people on this forum should not be a concern but remember that you do not have to respect their opinions but you do have to respect their right to be ignorant. Large groups of archers may be coming from all over the world so if you can complete everything and the shoot is a success to the majority then you can address the problems that you may encounter. Families coming to shoot archery has to be your first concern. Other families have 9 or 10 months to make plans to find things that may be of interest in the area and the Chamber of Commerece will be the place to start making inquiries.
Good Luck and good shooting.

Fastfletch
Thanks for your comments. We are trying to get the correct information out as quickly as possible and I appreciate the fact that most people are looking forward to this event and are giving us time to distribute information.

I respect a persons right to an opinion but some comments are not opinions but attacks. They are not only attacks on the people organizing the event, but the IBO and all shooters and huntersin general. When someone questions the integrity of the persons involved in this event, then I am going to respond. Some people want to turn their speculation into attacks for whatever unknown reason. I am not going to stand idly by while the same people on this site and other sites claim that something sinister is going on behind the scenes.

I have posted several times that when information becomes concrete, then we will release it. I will not release information that has not been confirmed. As I am sure you will agree, if I tell you something is going to happen it should happen. This is the responsible thing to do. I understand people need to make plans. We should have some detailed information to release this week on the City of Anderson Web Site. I will let you know when it is up.

Thanks again to everyone who is being patient with us. We are striving to make this an enjoyable event for you and your families.

This year was my first year at Snowshoe, and I loved it! I am really excited about going to Indiana. It is a 6 hour drive for us, but we are ready to go. I look forward to see what it is going to be like.
