new to archery

Hey everyone
Just started to shoot and having a lot of fun with it. was wondering where I can get info on competitive shooting 3d/target. I am in long island ny. Also wondering if there are any websights that will give me some guide lines when it comes to competitive shooting. Like distiance is there a time limit stuff like that. Was also wondering at 20 yds is a 6 arrow group within a 3-4 inch circle ok. Thanks I know this is a little broard but like I said I am very new to it.
Thanks everyone
Richie

RE: new to archery

Richie,

Welcome to the great sport of archery. If you need to find out anything regarding rules for 3-D shooting, go to ibo.net and check out the Rules section. There you should find everything you may need to know about IBO 3-D shooting.

A 4 inch group at 20 yards is really good for a starter. Just keep shooting and before long you will not be happy with a 4 inch group at 30 yards though. This is a very frustrating sport, at least for me it is. One day I'll be hitting the X (bullseye) everytime, the next day I won't be able to by an X. What makes it frustrating is that I know my equipment hasn't changed so I know it is me that is messing up.

As far asa finding a place to shoot, check the web, you should find all kinds of 3-D ranges near you. IBO has a listing for IBO clubs on their web site, look there to see if any are close to you.

Steve.
