Rule changes

I personaly would like to see YMR 15-17 moved back to 50yds max, I don't like shooting at a closer distance and I really like a shoot that tests all abilities so that I know what I have to improve on. I am not saying that the course at the worlds wasn't hard I am just saying that I would like to shoot at the same distance as the MBO class whithout competing against them.
I also don't understand why the scoring rules were changed.
Now what is the total score of 20 targets out of?

Perfect for 20 targets is now 220 (20x11)

RE: Rule changes

I've been keeping track of the topics on this forum for a while, first time to respond. I took the time to look at the rule changes for next year, I see that the yardage for MBF has also been reduced to 45 yards. I have been competing in the IBO for several years and enjoy the challenge that it has always represented, please to not lower the standards that have made the level of competition what it is. This class is not large, it was made even smaller with the inception of the Fingers hunter class, this class already affords an opportunity for individuals to shoot at reduced yardages. Is the objective to make this only one class again? If it is just say so, I'll shoot with the Hunter class along with everyone else. I would much rather stay at the fifty yard max and face the challenges we currently have. I would like to hear back from other shooter's who currently compete in this class and get their opinions.

RE: Rule changes

I would like to take this time to state my disappointment in the rule changes altogether!! I would like to know if the IBO is going to have rule changes every year? (Binoculars, stabilizers, max yardages, scoring rings, fletching, etc.) I think that this is more destructive than just sticking with the existing rules. (If it isn't broke don't fix it) I have enjoyed shooting IBO for the past 9 or so years, but I am really discouraged with some of the rule changes this year mainly the addition of the eleven ring I don't see this adding anything to this organization. Be careful of losing the identity of Bow Hunting Organization. JMO

Welcome aboard guys, I agree with both of you. I agree with BOS, I don't like the 11 rule either.
IDHEF I agree with you that we should be shooting at 50yds max, maybe there should be two classes for each age and equipment class, instead of 5 for each . One calss for people who can't handle shooting at 50yds(Beginners or the guy who is just out for a good time), and another for those who are looking for a challenge(competitive).

Sorry to see 50 yard gone for MSR. Also, sorry that there wasn't any rules created to handle the way that the Worlds were ended (some able to shoot off and others not). It just would be nice to know beforehand what will happen under certain circumstances. It still leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Staying the extra day ins't really the issue, the hotels are probably pretty much empty anyway, but what about flights, work etc.?

RE: Rule changes

No matter what th erule change is it will not please everybody.
Input recieved by the state reps and subsequently relayed to the boad and info from shooters to the board members directly. Info to the office, those are the ways change is generated.

Doug, this is 3-D not field. That already exists in another organization.
We look at 3-D as requiring an additional skill. Estimating distance. Take a good shooter and add this skill. That makes a good 3-D shooter.
Take that skill away and you have a different type of shooter. Don't look for the need for that additional skill to ever change.

The format for losing a day at the world is to go with the total number of common targets. In this years case that was 40.
The single class shoot off was available time-wise. It eliminated the range combinations for first place.
It is virtually impossible to provide a format that under a maybe situation may or may not arise. Putting the finals off to Monday is an impossible situation. How does a person make arrangements to change departure dates on a maybe.
As far as making it so that you can stay if you can........
I do not think that option will get a very strong level of support from very many.

I have to praise the IBO for the fact that they do make some changes. No they will NEVER please evrybody I guess the way I see it you don't like the rules don't play... At least they make changes from time to time instead of leaving all things the same always...There are some IBO rules I'm not to keen on but hey I still shoot their tournaments and will continue to do so...
