Snow Shoe Thoughts

Had a great time at the Worlds!
Didn't shoot as well as planned but......I ate REAL GOOD!!!!
Thanks to all who volunteered their time and services.
I was alarmed to see the Hunter Defense Ranges close so soon. I came to shoot from Wednesday thru Sunday. I was disappointed to be turned away from the Defense Range at 10 am on Saturday.
Their were several folks who couldn't/didn't shoot for competition but wanted to shoot on Saturday and perhaps even Sunday. I noticed some vendors left early too. Some people droveup for the day to be disappointed. Can we keep the defense ranges open longer and keep the vendors around as published??

i had a great time as well. and again, a huge thank you to the staff, and volunteers who made it all happen. i look forward to 2006...possibly the last year up there....cant imagine finding a place that will one up snowshoe, or even equal it...truly an amazing place...our new nickname for it is six flags over snowshoe....

cant say i blame the venders for pulling out...when it gets slow like it did on saturday, not much else to do but watch the grass grow. the venders put in a lot of time there as well.....cant say about the bhd ranges...wasnt able to shoot them this year.

all in all, great ranges with the one little slip up on A range.....only one minor mistake out of 500 targets set, thats pretty impressive for the hand full of folks who set the ranges. they are to be commended.

There were 2 10 target bowhunter defense ranges open until 12 noon on Sat.at Powder Ridge. The ranges at Silver Creek were closed so I could open the Pro ranges on Sat. We had 68 people shoot the Pro course. The schedule stated the pro courses would be open Sat.

I did shoot the Powder Ridge ranges but wanted to shoot the Silver Creek also. I did see in the schedule that the Pro ranges would be open but....I guess I didn't inquire hard enough as to how and where to get to them. I did ask a IBO official on Thursday and he appeared to be unsure of the particulars. I guess it was weather dependant
Maybe just more publicity would help.

My first time at the World's and I had a ball.....already planning to go back next year.

I agree about the vendors.........I drove back up early Sunday moring to buy a release at the Tru-Ball trailer and they were gone.....[:@]

They need to change the program to say no vendors will be there on Sunday because only 3 or 4 were there at 8am Sunday.

Awesome, the best time that I have had at the Worlds. Bob and his crew did an outstanding job of setting up the targets and the IBO did an excellent job of setting the stakes. The staff was friendly and helpful, the weather was great, (except for about an hour). My ranges A and B were very challenging, scenic and a complete joy to shoot on!!! I only wish that I could figure out the size of that darn black and white buck!!! Enjoyed sittting in the village with the live entertainment and the fireworks display was the best that I have seen in years!! A special thank you to Easton for the Easton Eagle Eye Contest!!! Five Hundred Dollars, paid for the trip and some shopping in the village, thanks again!! Looking forward to next year, planning on spending the whole week on top of the mountain!! My only regret, that I still haven't seen a bear on the mountain yet!!! A special thanks to the 14 other people that stayed with Denise and I, you made the trip!!! Keith, I found a job for you, tribal story teller!!! You are the best. For those of you that didn't come back to the mountain, you missed a really great time. OUTSTANDING JOB SNOWSHOE, IBO AND THE VENDORS.
Thank-you
Rudy

i guess tribal story teller is better than court jester, or the town fool...debatable im sure.....LOL as usual no complaints about snowshoe, or the company we kept on the mountain. we had a few new additions to our little tribe of misfits and malcontents, and even had a normal and very nice mid american family complete with well mannered son stay with us this year.....if nothing else, our tribe is quite colorful. indiana, ky, (cant spell kentucky) ohio, penn, new york were represented in "the house on the hill". nysr, as for your not seeing the bears, you drank enough to see pink elephants, flying pigs, and man eating mckenzie targets, you mean you didnt see the bear that was chasing them? LOL better luck next year.....

Hey Tribal Story Teller,
Itwasn't me that had his hand in the cooler all week!! Perhaps a little bit Saturday evening. Yes it was great to have a normal family stay with us from the Mid West, they are nice people, even though they have been known to hang with the Freak!!Not sure if we missed him this year or not, sure was nice not having to vacuum the shower after he was done though. As for thatlens problem that you are experiencing, maybe you have reached that age of needingsome optics for your eyeballs.Later!!!!

I also had a great time being the first time there. I do have some reservations though about the scoring. For example: A person shoots a perfect 400 for a two day 20 target course, now another person shoots a perfect 400 but has 2 x's to get it,in other words he had a 378 and (2) 11's to equal 400 who should be the better shooter. I think the one who shoots the perfect 400 with out the x's but it doesn't work that way at the I B O Worlds. Give me some feedback .The course at Snowshoe was really bad too down over that mountain was not what I call a real life experience of how I would shoot an animal.

dale, i think what you are saying is one shooter shot an 8, but shot 2 11 rings to make up that 8 to get back to even......there is no doubt the shooter who didnt shoot any eights had a better day by consistentcy, but the other shooter hit more in the middle......i like the idea of the 11 ring. that way if you do shoot an 8 or 5 you have a chance to get those points back. there really isnt a gamble involved, just aim for the middle of the 10 ring.

As a State Rep I will not go into the many comments that I heard while shooting at the Worlds. I think that the comments that were made will have no bearing on the future locations or the conditions of the courses. The age group that I shot with as a whole were very disappointed that no consideration was give to people of advanced years. I can not comment on other groups on what their thought were regarding the conditions of the courses or the longer distances.
Now that it is official as to where the next two World Championships will be comments pro or con will be of little use to anyone. I do hope that in the future that the IBO will be able to find a location that will be willing to accept a group of shooters in large numbers that are willing to pay large sums to attend and enjoy the shooting and the other activities that people like to see and do on a vacation.
I believe that the number of people attneding the shoot this year was downwhich is something that should be looked into. Some of the conditions or reasons are beyond our control but the things that we can control need to be studied very closely. New shooters are going to continue to attend each year but long time shooters need to be addressed and their input considered.
If we have reached the top at Snowshoe there is only one way left to go. Economic factors are changing our life styles more and more every day and being aware of these changes is a must if we are to grow.
I hope that every one that had a good shoot will make it back to Snowshoe next year and the people that may have reservations about future shoots will contact the IBO office and express what things you feel would have made the shoot more enjoyable.
As a Bowhunting organization we do not want to loose any members for any reason and as Bowhunters we must stick together.
