Default Big time 'weather' change.....'Pay Attention'

I just got through reading Cardeers post on how beautiful a day he enjoyed. I will have to second that. This past weekend, Sunday inparticular, was the most beautiful day of the year so far. It was mostly sunny, a high temperature of 76 with a nice, steady southern breeze blowing in off of the Gulf of Mexico. (All the oak trees are starting to bud and even my apple tree has started to flower. A little too soon, that for sure. I will be experiencing the coldest weather of the years down here in Southeast Texas.) I am sure that most of you across the nation experienced the same thing but I was aware (after looking over computer models last week) that this beautiful and mild weather was not going to last.
A major cold front is pushing its way through the heartland as we speak. Here is a glimpse of what we are looking at.

Midwest
Many residents of the Midwest and Great Lakes are in for rude awakening after a very warm weekend. A strong cold front has swept into the Upper Midwest and through the Plains. Highs will only be in the teens all the way down to Nebraska and will be falling through the 30s around Chicago. Light snow will spread eastward out of Colorado into Nebraska and Kansas today. Light rain showers will change to snow showers in St.Louis and Chicago by this afternoon. Low pressure will develop around the Mississippi Valley this evening and that will lead to a rapid devlopment of snow tonight and tomorrow. Significant accumulations are possible from portions of Illinois and Indiana into Michigan. Stay with TWC and weather.com for the latest updates on this wintry event.

South
Much of the South will enjoy a mild day, but changes have already begun in Arkansas and Texas. A strong cold front has entered Texas and will reach the Gulf Coast tonight. Temperatures around Dallas-Ft. Worth will tumble from the 50s early in the day to the 30s by later this evening. The cold surge will sweep across the South on Tuesday and Tuesday night. Highs in Atlanta will only be in the 30s by Wednesday.

Northeast
It looks like a great start to the workweek across the Northeast. Look for mostly sunny skies with highs ranging from the 40s in New England to the 60s around Washington, D.C., today. Highs should also reach the 60s in Pittsburgh, Pa. A cold front will press through the region on Monday night and Tuesday morning resulting in much colder temperatures. Rain showers may reach the East Coast by early Tuesday morning.

I'm sure most of ya'll were already aware of this but just in case, I had to say something. We also have a 'Siberian Airmass' pushing its way through Canada as we I type. It might even be a little colder that this one. Have a goodin'.

Yeah they have been talking about the cold front thats supossed to be comming for the past week now, but every time I see the weather updated they keep warmin it up, they started out sayin highs in the lower single digits, and lows below zero, (witch In a normal year would not be unusual) but now It's only supossed to get down to 13 or 14 for the highs on the coldest day of this "cold front" and then warm up into the 30s again next week. I've been holding out hope all winter for just one good storm, or one artic front, but It hasnt happend, and it looks like this one is going to be a flop too. I'm ready for this so called "winter" to be Over. I Want some open water so I can go fishing...

I hope it gets down below zero and stays there for a week or two. I got to get out on the ice only once this year.
