My job as a school bus driver. I never hunted ONCE this entire season.

100 school bus drivers short. Nobody wants to do the job!

I do 2 elementary schools
I do a back-to-back, double run, for middle school (2 bus runs, same school)
I do 1 high school (sometimes I get radioed to "double up" and go get more HS kids and cram them onto my bus)

If I took off a day to go hunting, how would the kids get to school? We're short staffed as it is...

*sigh*

I guess if you need the job keep working. If you don't need the job I'd be gone. You won't get this last year back.

Or if you really enjoy the kids more than you'd enjoy whatever else you could be doing.

Life's to short to let an employer own you.

I have one more school year 2022-2023, and then I'm retiring. I'm about done with all the nonsense with public schools, and bratty kids.

'20 season, the boys didn't have sports so I hunted all the time. '21 season My middle and youngest boys had football so every Saturday morning was out. The evenings and Sundays were a busy time. I have to say, hunting will never replace something my boys are doing. I learned the hard way 1 time and it was my own fault.

Certainly something to look forward to!

Nothing wrong with more time to hunt fish play music and enjoy yourself.

Lost interest after they brought in snipers at night to kill the herds. They swear they only shot the little ones in there 700 deer nightly shoots but I stopped seeing big bucks I passed on regularly. I saw only one monster my last year.

Iíve run out of other peoples kids right now to take them spring turkey hunting. Itís a little tough to approach a stranger and ask them if I can take their kid in the woods in the spring. That will change soon enough and I will be able to take a kid hunting in a few years. I have a few friends with young kids.

I now prefer to do my hunting at 120í down under water for lobster, hog fish and grouper.

This stopped me for a year....

I can shoot rifle with no trouble. I have lost 30% movement in my neck. being an avid waterfowler, getting a shotgun pointing in the air poses a bit of an issue. Physio is helping. Turning 70 next month might add something also but other than that I am good to go.
