I have lost all faith in a legitimate free press. My faith in the govt is shaky but not completely broken. My faith in the SCOTUS and the Chief Justice is shot. I sill have faith in most of my fellow mankind until an individual shows me that faith is misdirected.

I too have lost all faith in free press. The press is more like democrat propaganda. Learned it from their commie breatheren. Then there is big tech also taking sides and allowing or disallowing the free flow of info based on whether it supports the left or not. Just imagine if the phone company could stop your service because of who you are talking to or what you are saying to them. That is the equivelant of what these social media sites and you tube are doing.

I have not lost faith in law enforcement, they are working under horrible circumstances. I just read where a city just passed rules for their law enforcement officer's that is sure to get some of them killed, the new rules do not allow them to use physical force or deadly force on suspects till they go through a litany of begging them to comply. I have lost faith in the American people on the whole for buying into this namby pamby nonsense of the cancel culture and caving to the stinking democrats and the woke left. The sooner the crap hits the fan the sooner we can reclaim or Republic from the idiots. So far as a free press goes, from what I see today that only means they are free to trash everything that made this country great in order to move it into socialism.

I'm fortunate to be in a place where I see a lot of good things happening: a religious institution that helps sponsor a vibrant Catholic college where the faith culture is flourishing.

It's far, far different than what you see on TV . It's also starting to influence the surrounding community. People are moving into the area because of the spiritual atmosphere.

The key word in this is Community, and I'd recommend that to all of you. Form together with sensible, like-minded people who don't embrace craziness and who make living out shared values as central. Families can help fill this role, but it helps to have a bigger network. In any case, the worse thing you can do is face all of this alone.

As a pastor, I'll plug the New Testament communities as models.

This is why I plugged the New Testament communities above. There's a very instructive historical lesson for us today in what they experienced.

When they formed, the Roman empire was on its way to hell in a handbasket. A lot of us would say that's what's happening in our own country today. Yet, those tiny little communities managed to transform the empire entirely, and the faith they gave its peoples sustained the realm spiritually and psychologically while it went through the dark ages of barbarian raids, bubonic plague, famine, Viking hordes, Muslim conquerors, and so on. Christianity became light in a world that collapsed into darkness. Along the way, the rest of Europe that wasn't part of Rome was transformed, too.

Places like Galatia, Corinth, Philippi and so on would have seemed very inconsequential, yet they contained within them something that kept things together and allowed a new society to be built and fashioned.entirely.

That can be repeated.

Having faith in mankind, government, media etc., is misplaced faith, IMO. Mankind is fallen, and usually upholds standards only on an individual basis, unless there is an in-place power making the cost of misbehaving too high.

What you are seeing is exactly what I would expect powerful, fallen humans to be like.

Still, I live in a small, almost rural town, exactly because the culture here is keeping this place more in check than in big cities. I do not feel like this country is going the right way, and I won't gamble the safety of my family on any of those big cities.

I agree with FF - God fearing people are a better bet.

Default A amount of hope

My hope is based off the fact that everyone that thought they could trust college, university an grade schools to teach there children. The government and governmental agencies to protect and take care of the. That number of people that of people I meet in daily interactions that are sick and tired of the media, governmental overreach and incompetence and SJW culture. The question is how can we get an incompetent government to fix it self for the good of the citizens. No clue myself I just hold onto hope. And hoping other people make enough noise they want to a Democratically Elected Republic again.
