The power of Social Media

I've been offshore on the boat several times diving for lobster and spearing fish It was stolen a week or so ago. They put it on Facebook and it was recovered the next day way south on 95 at a rest stop.

Yep, there are local pages with thousands and thousands of active members. Info can quickly reach a lot of people.

Yeah if I must say, thanks to social media, missing kids can be found faster, new songs (If released by celebrity friends) can reach more people almost in the same day and a handful of other things. A double-edged sword for sure.

More like sheer stupidity. No one ever gave an intelligence award to a criminal. Especially ones this ignorant. Probably thought they were protected by having their page on private. But forget that anyone can share images and posts to others, regardless.

I think he means the missing boat was put on social media and was found due to the exposure it caused.

I do have another friend about 8 years ago got his 42 foot Scarab stolen out of his yard while they we vacationing in MI. Never found the boat. I told him it had to be a local person who found out they were going on vacation. He said, no, google earth. He lives several miles back off a main road in a rural neighborhood. I spend a long time on google earth I couldn't see searching for boats in someone's yard

Some people are dumb enough to blab on Facebook when they are going on vacation. They put so much of their personal lives on the net it doesn't take a criminal genius to know where they are and when they are not home.
