That would suggest that chicken tastes just like snake.

Forgive me if I have some doubts.

I've eaten rattlesnake. It didn't taste like chicken to me....

It looks like fish but tastes like....well, snake.
The 4 or 5 times I've had it, it was skewered and cooked over a campfire. No salt, no pepper, just snake on a stick. I think it was overcooked every time as it was always dry.

Ok, another side note. Just tried snakehead fish. Full disclosure, I don't like fish. I only really enjoy fishing and saltwater fishing is the best by far. If you don't like fish and don't really care for a fish with a strong flavor, snakeheads are your thing. It was pretty bland to me but a solid piece of meat like tuna. My choice to use it for, crab trap bait after target practice Bowfishing to catch it.

rattlesnakes taste more like a red-tail hawk

Reminds me of an old Justin Wilson joke.

Way back in the depression era (folks were POOR), a kid is walking down a dirt road with a .22 rifle slung over one shoulder and a chicken hawk over the other. He meets a fellow walking the opposite direction, and the man is curious.

"Whatcha' got there son?". "Chicken hawk" says the kid.

"Chicken hawk? What are you going to do with a chicken hawk?"

"I'm gonna' eat him".

"Really? What does chicken hawk taste like?"

"Bout like owl."

I think my uncle was that kid. He only eats meat that swims, crawls, climbs, runs, flys, slithers, bites a hook, or bleeds. He has recipies for everything. He wouldn't notice if everything shut down, except he might miss the evening news. He sure wouldn't go hungry.

I killed a big chicken snake in a nest a week or so ago. The hen had 14 eggs under her and was due to hatch, he swallowed about 8 of them and the hen wouldn't go back on the nest. I think that is 3 snakes this year. I killed two trying to climb a power pole last year trying to get in a bluebird nest. Between the snakes, possums and dang dogs it is hard to raise chickens, but if I catch them they don't come back.

I "feel your pain" LBR; we lost a dozen quail this spring when a snake got the momma quail. A real shame those eggs were just about to hatch.
