Default Having connection problems again

Got another call into Globalnet again..... the internet is slowing again to almost dial up speed. I have had trouble since May when the lake rose and they said it affected the signal that comes from NY over the lake. They said they will be here Sunday but I am getting sick of it. I guess it is time to call the phone company and get a dedicated DSL.

We have DSL. It's not as fast as cable broadband, but it's fast enough and doesn't cost as much. It's also been very reliable.

When do we get internet in the sheepshed?

They came and put a new radio on the house that looks like a mini dish. much faster and should do the trick or so they say. I am paying for a 1.5 MB line and this puppy is going at about 7.0 MB. The tech said they will remotely gate its speed after a couple of days and then ask if we want to pay more for a faster line. Pretty funny marketing technique if you ask me.. At least I can now surf the net.

It went down yesterday for the rest of the day but is working fine today. Not sure what is up with that but we will see. I have only a few possibilities for service since I live in a small rural place.
1. dial up from the phone co..too slow
2. DSL from the phone co ...which I might go to
3. radio like Globalnet or Hughsnet...have that and had good service until recently.
4. Comcast cable...another possibility but would require quite a bit of construction to get the line to the house.

People we know with Comcast broadband like it. It's a lot faster than DSL.

We would be happy with dial-up in the sheep pen

It is fast and reliable or so I am told. Getting the new line to the house would be an issue since the serving pole line is off my property. The distance involved would necessitate a buried line and I am not sure that would be feasible. Getting their triple play would be the best fit financially but since I get a free land line phone for life from my previous employer and that from what I understand the Dish TV service that I now have is superior to Comcast, I doubt that there is much reason to change.
