RE: open invite
Cheaper for me to go to the food bank. they give turkeys away free there. Dont have a shotgun or money for a tag. Come over here and get these turkeys eating my song bird feed and food plot seeds.Stinkin pest

RE: open invite
I could never understand why we don't have that many turkey in our part of the county. I've been hunting there for years and have never seen one. Yet I know alot of people out your way and they have them in their back yards every night. Maybe in a few more years they'll migrate to the point I can hunt them at my parents place;) Oh yeah, thanks for the invite, I'll PM you closer to the date to work something out. Right now I'm focusing on some largemouth fishing in Florida a week from today. these next few weeks should be a lot of fun.:)

RE: open invite
ok this is what i found today around the house.
I just returned from walk/turkey scoutin. I just about got to were i was gonna ditch the road for a trail. And i heard some rustling in the leaves. i backed up and there they were some turkey. i continued my walk to were i thought i would be safe from them seeing me. Got behind a rock and let some yulps out. Turned out they were 2 hens they got about 30 yards from. i walk back to the road and continued to were i really want to look. When i got to the area i instantly seen droping and scratch mark. at about 100 yards off the road i let out some yelps. Almost right away a gobble rang out about 150-200 yards away. i split the estemated distance and perch myself behind a big rock. After calling for about 15 minutes a nice young bird approached. he only had like a 3 inch beard. He frooze and just looked around then the excitment of crunching leaves made my heart pound.behind him came another bird in full strut.I would have to say his beard was about 5-7 inch nice size. then a third appeared. Not really sure how big his beard was .I never got a clean look. But i must say he was bigger then the other two birds when it came to body. i am sure he was the wiser older one. anyway that what is happening here in my neck of the woods as far as turkeys go... |

RE: open invite
Gentlemen,
I am stuck here on the great little concrete jungle we call Long Island. I've been trying to break into turkey hunting for years without much success. There is no season on Long Island and getting access to land around NYC is a major hassle/challenge. I've been out several tiumes and came close a few times...but still have not closed the deal on a tom ![]() ![]() ![]() I would be willing to travel to areas if NJ, CT, PA and upstate if anyone can help point me in the right direction. Any suggestions or help is appreciated. Thanks! |
