sika deer

Has anyone hunted sika deer with a guide in Maryland? Looking for suggestions for a muzzleloader hunt. Only web site I've seen is Muddy Marsh, and they do archery only. If you've hunted with someone else, who? and how was the hunt?

There was an awesome place that closed up and is now a bed and breakfast. I saw muddy marsh, but there was also twin willow farms down there too. I think they are still in business.

How did you guess where I was talking about? haha

Len and Marlene were super nice people and I wish their operation was still in full swing. I know they were having a tough time when i was down there in 96. They said most people had a 40% chance of seeing a sika. I saw 8 on that trip. I missed one and didnt shoot another because it was too small. I had talked to them about 4 years ago about coming down and they said they no longer hunt the property. Just a Bed and Breakfast at that point.

Hey Guy
You don't need a guide just go to the Va side and apply at the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.
PO Box 62
Chincoteague Va. 23336-0062
Telephone 757 336 6122

I stumbled into this place about 10 years ago while I was in the navy its great. I didn't know what I was doing when I first went there but it didn't take long.Just hunt them like rabbits. I shot plenty that way. Go to newcaroliana.com click on my name (Mike Hill) and there is a photo of me there with a truck load of Sika deer. I will say getting a nice buck is rather tough, but if it wasen't it woulden't be fun right. Good luck and if I can help ya just let me know I'd be happy to help. I can't tell ya how much I loved it. Mike
