RE: "I used to see 30-40 deer"

Hey guys, seeing less deer was the plan and they took 3 years here in PA to tell us why it had to happen, that it was going to have to be tweaked to address regional habitat and deer numbers and that it would take 5 years to see if it fulfilled the desired results. How many people attended those meetings in PA? Do you know of any reputable deer management organization that is not praising the efforts of PA? hunters have always driven deer management through politics. let's give politics a rest and let the biologists give it a shot. There are some things needed to be addressed but seeing more deer won't cut it. I posted in another thread how one anti-hunting web site is using the current actions of PA hunters to promote their cause by saying we are not interested in science based deer management, we're greedy and want a deer behind every tree. Are they right?

You don't have to hunt harder, you have to hunt smarter. Gone are the days of playing deer ping pong in rifle season where you'd see deer in pole timber with no cover because they were getting bounced around. I had to abandon my traditional areas and hunt areas with thick cover. this has worked no matter where I've hunted.

hey bullmoose38, What do you think Of Tuscarora state park? I saw 17 deer there the last day of rifle season (public Land) Thick, thick, thick. like hunting rabbits. nice racks still running around.
