I will be for no doe hunting only if you shut down buck hunting also. Hey maybe we could only hunt in the leap year. Then everybody should be happy. You will see more deer and bigger buck. Best of both worlds. Right! LOL

I respectfully disagree. If you only hunt every 4th year the populations will explode and surpass the carring capacity of the land. End result is a sick and starving herd, not more and bigger deer. Maybe for a few years there will be more deer but I doubt very much they will bigger or healthier.

I get your point though. Practicing QDM requires shooting does.

Wow that was a quick responce. I'd imagine this post is out of context here. Was there more to this story (such as a limited doe harvest limitation) or something?

Yeah I am sure you heard and read of all the complaining here in PA. Its a mess down here right now. Everybody has there ways of how our deer herd should be handled. I think we should leave it to the experts that have a clue. I dont agree on every change that has happend but I will back it. At least they are trying to make a healthier deer herd instead of leaving it the way it was. And if what they are doing doesn't work we can always try something else. The way people talk you would think deer are going to become on the endangered species list.

Show me an unhealthy deer in the years before AR. Unless the winter was severe which we havent had many in a while there never was an issue with unhealthy deer. As for the way it was if things were so bad explain the increase in the deer herd every year.

bull,
The experts said the goal for 2G was 15 DPSM.It's now estimated at 12 yet no planned reduction in tags. It's kinda hard to trust the experts when they manage like that.

IMO as many others... A healthy deer herd is quality not quantity. Just my opinion I know others think the opposite. But think about it you have to many trees in a forest. You cut some down. All the other trees that are standing become healthier. Right?
