How is the hunting just over the border around Jamestown? I have often thought of hunting NY. What would a nonresident pay to hunt bucks only in NY. Is there a special permit for only a few days of hunting? Do you have to buy the full license? Thanks for any answers guys!

Wow, it sure is good to hear from some local guys. I was born in Jamestown, grew up in cherry Creek, hunted both, not to mention frewsburg, South Dayton area. I now reside just over the border in Warren. I move to Pa, for various reasons, including not wanting to pay twice the taxes I pay here. My parents still live in Cherry Creek and pay $1600 for a small lot, my house borders the state forest, and own 7 acres and only pay $850 in taxes.

I bought my hunting license for Ohio this past year, but am going to purchase my NY license for 2005. That might change, if they allow us to hunt on Sundays down here. It's just about a perfect setup. Start hunting archery in Pa during the week (vacation time), hunt in NY on Sundays. Be able to hunt opening day of shotgun in NY, and opening day of rifle season. Living only 30 min from the border, what more can a guy ask for (besides a lower NY license fee)?

livbucks, I have had excellent luck in Chautauqua county, like I said around the Frewsburg/Kennedy area. If I buy my license for NY this year and you're interested, let me know, I'll provide what I can for info. Great for turkey as well!!!!!!
