Maine Any Deer Permit Drawing
 

Per the Maine IF&W web site the drawing for any deer permits is scheduled for September 12. The results should be posted on their site that same day.
I'm still hoping for two this year!

why are you hoping for two?

i thought it was just that there will be more doe permits out.

IF&W is trying to reduce the deer herd in some zones. In those same zones, there are more permits than applicants. If you have applied for that zone, your name goes back in the hat and you might get a second permit. Since IF&W has no real idea how many people are going to apply in a given year the zones may in fact change annually.

Hope that is the correct take on the situation. You might want to check IF&W's web site for information.

That's pretty much it. Last year in zone 23 where I hunt there were in fact more permits than applicants and some folks did get two permits as a result, thus they were ablt to take two deer. They have significantly increased the number of permits for that same zone this year so unless there is a significant increase in the number of applicants my chances at getting two is much greater than last year.

I know that I could have easily taken two last year so if the deer are thriving I hope to get that chance this time around. Of course this could also be a year I get skunked. We shall see. Until then I will keep my fingers crossed.
