I know in the area that we hunt the hunter population is getting older every year and fewer kids are coming up thru the ranks and hunting.
In 10 -15 years from now in our area there will be 1/2 the people or less that will be hunting do to age/death. |

Dead...I will gladly answer that one for ya...When you throw a kazzillion hunters in the woods with a kazzillion deer, shots are bound to break the silence. Now add in the fact that there is a lack of browse and food for those kazzillion deer, and you have an animal that needs to travel to find food. Odds are, that hungry deer is gonna walk by an unqualified hunter sooner or later.
Now, with fewer deer, there is more browse available. More food means less travel for the deer to fill their bellies. Less travel means less of a chance to walk by an unqualified dummy. And there you have it...the reason why harvest and sightings are down. Like I said before....plenty of deer, and no qualified hunters to get em. That old rock you have been sitting on every opening day since you were a kid that your daddy showed you, and his daddy showed him, and his daddy showed him, ain't gonna give up three deer every opening day anymore. Maybe every third or fifth year it might, but not every year. Time to learn how to hunt and hunt the deer where they ARE, not where they USED to be. The all Powerful and Benevolant MOOSEHORNHUNTER has spoken.......Now GO......GO SCOUT.....GO a lot of "advice" from someone who hasn't hunted here... the days of a kazzillion deer are gone, have been for several years... I hunted harder this year then I have in the last 20 years and saw less deer then I have in the last 40 years... the south east and south west with their large metro areas and posted land hold lots of deer but the rest of the state has been thinned way back... |

ORIGINAL: moosehornhunter Pa doesn't have a lack of deer in my opinion....it has a lack of qualified hunters.....QUALIFIED.....Until a few years ago, any idiot could take a walk in the woods and kill a pile of deer. Now you have to know what your doing, and unfortunately, it sounds like most PA hunters haven't figured out how to hunt yet. OH WELL |
