I was out on the panhandle of WV the other day scouting out a WMA and there were indeed acorns. They were already falling from the trees. There probably won't be much come hunting season. Jimmymac:)

Totoe,Here in my part of the state,Im findin fewer acorns and alot of them are wormy.Hardly any apples this year either.

TOTOE...In Braxton County, the acorns are spotty. There are some in some places and none in others. They aren't very thick anywhere. Apples are terrible. It's going to be tough to pattern the deer for bow season. I can't hunt my oak flat like normal...guess I'm going to have to work a little harder. LOL

Here in southern WV they are spotty at best hardly any at all and very few apples I just hope we dont have a very bad winter if we do then the game will suffer terribly.

In NE PA they are spotty, we had one of the best crops last year i have ever seen. This year some have them others do not.

Here in my part of WV there are NO acorns that i can see, either the deer, turkeys, and squiralls are on them or they just aint growin, Last year we had alot, probably the mosts weve ad in a very long time, and this year we have very few if any. Like royak said, we also dont have very many apples in our part of the state. The game is going to be in trouble come this winter if we dont get something for them to eat, and if it dont rain they aint going to have that either.

They are dropping like crazy in NJ right now and this started about a week ago. Could it be from the drought?

Acorns are spotty in my area. Hickory tress are loaded. My apple, persimmon, and paw paw trees are all loaded too. Beech mast seems to be about average.

Haven't seen any areas with heavy drops,around here anyway.
2 years ago we had very wet summer.Had a bumper crop everywhere.
I raked up,bagged 300+lbs of acorns from back yard.Took em out to our huntin farm,spread em out in key areas.Deer got on em like an addict on coke!
Don't expect a heavy drop this season,due to drought.

The white oaks are dropping now in western MA. Overall it looks poor!noooooo apples!BLACK CHERRIES are heeping.

Acorn Follow up;
My yard is now an acorn hazard to walk.I live on a lake front so the oaks do very well,water wise.I should be able to bag up 5-6 bushels and get them to hunting farm before smoke pole opens.

The white acorns are everywhere this year in may area southeastern mass. Last year i had hardly any.

here in my part of pa ( monroe, and northampton counties ) we've got tons of them, they're hanging in really huge clumps in the trees yet and there are tons of them allready on the ground
