RE: Fawns with spots. STILL!!!!
Fawns should still have spots now. They will not lose them until they lose their summer coat sometime in September or early October. It is not an indication of late breeding, but is very normal for fawns to still have spots until that time.

RE: Fawns with spots. STILL!!!!
NJ Bowhunter is right. Deer lose their spots when the summer coat is gone. I've seen plenty of spotted fawns from a bow stand in the past. That said, I've never shot one. LOL
Even the pen deer fawns here won't lose their spots until late September. |
RE: Fawns with spots. STILL!!!!
Yes. It is typical for fawns to still have spots this time of year. After all it is only late Aug.

Haven't seen any with PROFOUND spots in the last week. All of the fawns I've seen have fading spots though.

RE: Fawns with spots. STILL!!!!
For some reason I see more spotted fawns now than ever befor atleast 12 this week. There was a decent rut here in Dec. and I noticed a few scrapes in Jan. Some fawns are big with just a hint of spots but 2 days ago I saw a real tiny one looked to only be 1 month old. A few years back while out shining the light at night in Nov. we saw a small spotted fawn. (spotlighting is legal here in NJ)
