NJ Black Bear should be ready in 2 or 3 months!!!
 

My taxidermist called me lastnight he wanted me to come down to his shop to sit down with him,and to go over the type of mount, habit, and base for my full body mount NJ black bear. He sayed Febuary or March it should be done!!!!! No Rush from me

she wasnt a big bear, just over 5' but she is a NJ bear
I took 2 others with archery in NB Canada, 1st one was big, 2nd one was 1/2 the size

Do you have a spot picked out in the house for her ? Never ate bear , how is it ?

Yeah I have a spot for her, but once the warm weather comes I will bring her up to my friends house in PA, he's got more room then he knows what to do with.

The 2 bears from Canada was very good, sweet like pork, with the texture of beef...the NJ bear wasn't as good, I still have sausage left from her.

I killed a 350 lb. black bear in Saskatchewan a few years back. I've never regretted spending the money for the life size mount. I mounted mine on all fours walking up a slight incline. I've never really been a big fan of the mounts standing on their hind legs. It shows off the belly where the fur is the thinnest. What type of mount did you go with???

My 1st bear from NB Canada was just under 350lbs that was done with a 3/4 mount....the 2nd one became a rug.

NJ bear is a full body mount, the reason for that is, I thought the chances of getting a bear in NJ is slim to none, plus I thought also this maybe the only bear in NJ in my life time. The mount will be on all fours, slighty walking, with a passive look no growling, the habit will be as close to the area where the bear died, I just emailed him the pictures of the bear after I took it. It will have the leaves, ferns, and moss. With a light oak 6" crown molding octagon base

Sounds beautiful... I killed a Pronghorn Antelope in Wyoming 2 yrs. ago and I had a pedestal mount done. There's nothing spectacular about the goat, but I killed it at an honest 200 yds with my muzzleloader. I had the taxidermist tack on a small brass plaque on the base with the date, location, and weapon used. I was really proud of that muzzleloader kill. You should do the same with your bear being that it was killed in NJ. That fact makes it unique! And that brass will last longer than me and you put together.
