More on the 350lb Buck

In the Pottstown Mercury, there is a picture of the “19pt., 350lb buck” that was in a post a couple of weeks back. However, according to the paper, it was a 16-pointer. Is it possible that this is a different big buck? That would explain the fact that the original picture didn’t look like a 350lb buck.

The deer in the Pottstown Mercury is the one that was shot in the neck with a crossbow. The paper called that one a 16-pointer. The 19-pointer was supposed to have been shot near Audobon. Who knows? If there were two bucks of this caliber taken in PA, that's pretty news-worthy.

guys, you are talking about one hell of a nice deer, that's for sure, but when you mention about weight's coming from PA, most of us take it with a grain of salt. most of us, when we mention an animal's weight are talking about about a field dressed animal that has been weighed on some type of scale. with the amount of animals taken in PA, i realize this is not always a practical option, but let's not get too carried away with their size. heck, if we were to count our deer that way here in VT,or NH, or Maine, there would be many, many deer shot every year that hit the 250, 300 and even 350 mark. just an opinion

No, that's the same buck. It seems the rumor mill has generated some misconceptions about this buck. He's a monster none-the-less.

beautiful deer, but let me go get my boots on before someone says that deer weighs 350. looking at only that pic, he hits the low 200's, maybe, field dressed, unless the guy sitting on it is a really, really big guy. just look at how easy he is straddling the deer, and how small the neck is. watch some of the hunting shows where they travel to manitoba, for example, where they grow some really large deer. and when the guys get to the deer, it makes the men look small when crouched beside it. now those are true 300+ deer, FIELD DRESSED. not trying to start an arguement, but you PA guys sure do like to spread things a bit thick.

This is how I started the thread. If you read the first post on this deer, you'll see that all the PA guys disagreed with the buck being 350#. I'm not spreading any BS. The first thing I thought when I saw the buck is that there's no way he's that heavy.
