RE: question for NY hunters (doe regulations)

I forgot that I actually talked with a DEC officer a week ago and he said that it should have been tagged a buck. but he also said that they should've scooped up the horn pieces (but there weren't any). I really don't think they would have gotten in much or any "trouble" if they had been "caught". usually the officers are pretty good in detremining someones intent. but there are always some pr*cks of misery out there that could try and "screw" people over
You must have some good hearts where you are here they see B&W.
A few years ago I wanted to plant some patches of deer forage but no place could I find if it was baiting in NY.
So I found some DEC officers having coffee & ask God you would have thought I kill sombody all I heard for 30min. was it's not right to do this it's not fair it's not??????????? an so on.
Then they wanted my driver lic # my hunting lic# and where do I hunt!!!
The sad part was all I wanted to know was the law on planting deer forage & if it was conciderd baiting. So I did not break the law.

I would have used the buck tag. The unfortunate truth is that plenty of guys will break the horns of a small busk so they can save their only buck tag for a bigger one. If your friend was willing to fight it out, I doubt they could convict him of anything regardless of how he tagged it.
